Mt Hamilton vs Kings Mt
With Mt Hamilton RR coming up this weekend, I had the chance to go out and recon the climb the other day. Its been a while since I made the ascent and I had almost forgotten how amazing it really is. I love that it is a never ending steady and twisting paved version of the original dirt wagon trail used to bring materials up to the summit for constructing the Lick Observatory. The oaks and...

Reset.
Yesterday was a perfect day to switch things up and “press the reset button” as they say. I’ve had a bunch of family in town for my wife’s graduation, and it was a great week. That being said, I’m ready to focus again, and prepare for this weekend’s races. T-minus less than 3 weeks until Zach, Fergus, and I leave for Tulsa Tough.
I couldn’t have asked...

Red Kite Criterium #2
Cat 2/3 Race.
Teammates: Naveen and Zach
Coming off a nice 6th place in the 3/4 race, Zach generously jumped in to the 2/3 with the intentions of doing some solid work for Naveen and I. Unfortunately those plans quickly went out the door when he had a mechanical that could not be resolved. Bummer, but we’ll make it happen next time.
The race was pretty straight forward, and I was just...
Turlock Shot
One more photo from Turlock RR… as Fergus would say, I was riding “hell bent for leather” that day.

Turlock RR
My first cat1/2 road race was last wekend at the 3rd anual Turlock RR. It was a windy day with four laps of a 22.8 mile rolling course around Turlock Lake.
…tailwind…rollers…headwind…rollers…headwind…rollers…headwind…rollers…tailwind…
Because of Santa Cruz Crit and Chico Stage Race the cat1/2 field was small, but I was happy to use...
Chico Stage Race
Last weekend I headed up to Corning, Ca for the Chico Stage Race. This was my first time doing this race. By far, the highlight was the super awesome road course. My favorite course all year. The TT was at 8 am and the wind was blowing like crazy. One of those rides where you have to lean into the wind gusts so you dont get blown over. To keep it short, I didnt have the best TT of my life...

Copperopolis RR
This past Saturday was the infamous Copperopolis RR in Milton, Ca. I was greeted by David Mesa outside my apartment at 5:00 am while we awaited the arrival of Bangor and Will. Once we were all loaded up and rolling, we spent the car ride talking about David Mesa’s recent month long vacation to the Island of Crete. He went there alone with his bike to learn about the culture and ride as...

Wards Ferry RR
Now this is a race!
Last Saturday (3/23/13) a few of us made our way to the Wards Ferry Road Race, which took place just outside the small town of Sonora CA, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This was a 12 mile course with a profile looking more like a row of dragon’s teeth than your usual road race. For 3hrs we hurled ourselves over this beautiful terrain filled...
Race weekend snaps …
This past weekend saw a group of us head out for a weekend of racing. On the menu was Wards Ferry Road Race in Sonora, CA (saturday), followed by Regalado Road Race in Oakdale, CA (sunday). In between eating, sleeping, and racing, I was able to capture a few snaps. enjoy!
nothing motivates quite like a cup of de la paz and some cycling coverage.

Regalado Road Race Pro/1/2
My second road race back, and having succeeded in my goal of not getting dropped at Bariani, my goal at Regalado was to be more playful and not just sit in. Twice at this race in previous years, I had attacked early and stayed away in two man breaks successfully. This race favors the bold (as Jaffa was about to prove in the 3’s) so I thought I’d throw in some breakaway attempts and...

San Dimas Stage Race 2013 - Cat 2
This was the first year for me doing San Dimas. Now it wasn’t exactly ideal for me to do this stage race, especially because I was coming off a super easy rest week/ traveling, but I had been thinking about it for quite some time, and I wanted to go for the experience. I was kind of nervous about my form or lack thereof, coming into the race. I had only done two races prior, and so...
